Away back in issue number 73 (May- June '76) I reviewed Squadron/Signal's Panzer Colors - a most impressive volume. Here we have a sequel. Its physical format is identical: 96 pages, plus paper covers, 8 1/2" x 11", with 16 pages of color illustrations by Don Greer amidst a plethora of black and white action photos of World War II armor. While the first volume's purpose was to present the history of German camouflage practices in WWII, this one is concerned with their military markings -tactical symbol., divisional signs, national insignia, vehicle numbers, license plates, service markings, victory markings, command and rank pennants, vehicle names and award shields and crests. Like its predecessor, this work is packed with numerous, excellent black and white photos, and the author's text is thorough, clear and very informative. If you're a modeller of AFVs, either for wargaming or just collecting, you'll find this volume almost as valuable as the first one was. Unfortunately, the escalating costs of printing have led to an increase in price to $7.95 - $1.00 more than the first volume. But it's worth it. You can find it at better hobby shops.
