B-25 MITCHELL IN ACTION - by Ernest R. McDowell

by Don Lowry

Occasionallv Squadron/Signal sends me a volume of their Aircraft In Action series. I reviewed #26, P-40 In Action, in issue #75. This volume is #34. The format is very similar to the Armor In Action series, which has been thoroughly reviewed in this column. It's 8" high by 11" wide, with 50 pages plus paper covers with excellent full color paintings of the subject plane (by Don Greer) on both covers and the center spread. As with all volume of these 'Action' series (there's also a Warships In Action series), the emphasis is definitely on the numerous excellent action photographs (all black & white). There is a bit of text sandwiched in here and there giving a brief history of the B-25's development and describing the various models. Scale four-view drawings are provided of the B-25C and the B-25H as well as side views of all ten models. As with all of this series, the price is $3.95, and it's available at better hobby shops everywhere. If you're interested in WWII aviation, and especially if you're into model airplanes, you'll find this work quite valuable. The B-25 was an important American medium bomber, and the plane used in the famous Doolittle raid on Japan.
