by Don Lowry
by Bruce Culver, illustrated by Don Greer This is volume twelve in Squadron/Signal Publications' "Armor In Action" series. Number eleven, PANTHER IN ACTION was reviewed in issue 68 and the earlier 10 in issue 64. The physical format is the same as its predecessors: 50 pages, plus covers, 8" high by 11" wide, full color paintings of the subject on the front and back covers and the center spread. The author and illustrator are the same team that produced Number 11, PANTHER IN ACTION. One page of text outlines the course of PzKpfw (PanzerKampfwagen) IV development, and there is a paragraph or more of text with the sections for each model. Two pages cover the ausf (model) A, 2 cover ausf B, 3 ausf C, 4 ausf D, 5 ausf E, 4 ausf F, 2 ausf F2, 8 ausf G, 9 ausf H, and 4 ausf J. Side, top, front and rear 1:76th scale drawings are provided for models A, C, D, F, G and H. In addition, numerous drawings are provided of individual details, such as turrets, track, drive sprockets, etc. But the main purpose of these booklets is to provide action photos for the modeler, historiar or armor buff, and this volume fulfills that purpose very well. This is one of the best volumns of the series - perhaps the best. Like the others it sells for $3.95 and is available from Squadron Shops and other good hobby shops across the country, or by mail from the Squadron Shop, Dept. C, 3461 East Ten Mile Rd, Warren MI 48091 ( and 75 cents for postage and handling). More Book Reviews
