THE ENGLISH CIVIL WAR 1642-1651 - by R. Potter and G.A.Embleton This 6" x 8 1/2" paperback book of 96 pages is profusely illustrated, mostly with black and white drawings but with 8 pages in color. The text gives a brief history of the conflict, notes on some prominent personalities, the social background of the period, and mostly a description of organizations, tactics, weapons, uniforms and flags of both sides. It sells for $6.95.

SCALE MODEL FIGHTING VEHICLES - by Kenneth M. Jones,is alto a 6"xft" paperback but of only 80 pages It is very thoroughly illustrated, primarily with black and white photos and drawings but with 5 pages in color. Primarily it is a book of examples for novices in the hobby of military vehicle modeling, and covers kits, conversions, scratch-building and painting. It sells for $4.95.

SCALE MODEL BUILDINGS - by MichaeZ Andress is the same size as the last two titles and also 80 pages. It, too, is profusely illustrated with numerous black and white photos and 7 pages with color. It, too, is a book of examples for novices - at modeling buildings for model railroad layouts, diorama, or even miniatures wargaming. It also covers kits, conversions, scratchbuilding and painting. It also sells for $4.95.

UNIFORMS OF THE LUFTWAFFE 1939-1945 by Matthew Cooper is the same size and also has 80 pages. In addition to very thorough coverage of uniforms, including numerous photos and drawings - 8 pages in color - 16 pages are devoted to the structure and organization of the Luftwaffe. A very comphehensive work. It sells for $4.95.

WAFFEN-SS, ITS UNIFORMS, INSIGNIA AND EQUIPMENT 1938-1945 - by D.S.V. Fosten and R.J.Marrion, is the same size but 112 pages long. Photos and drawings, including 16 pages of color, take up more space than the text, but the subject is very thoroughly covered. The price is $6.95.

AMERICAN CIVIL WAR CAVALRY by Michael Black is the same size but only 64 pages. It covers the organization, uniforms, equipment, flags and badges, and weapons of the Union and Confederate cavalry, plus short sections on Indian units and on the early machine guns used in the Civil War. It is thoroughly illustrated, with 8 pages in color, An adequate introduction to the subject. It sells for $3.95.

THE WESTERN FRONT 1914-1918 by D. Banting and G.A. Embleton is also the same size but 80 pages long. Like the others it is thoroughly illustrated, mostly with photos, with 8 pages of- color. The text gives a very brief outline of events and describes the armies of each major participant. Price: $4.95.

00 & HO SCALE MODEL RAILWAYS - by Michael Andress is larger than the previous titles mentioned, being 7 1/2"x9". It is 80 pages long. Well illustrated but with more text, it has 8 pages of color. As it says in the introduction, "The aim of this book is to show the beginner how he can develop his train set into a model railway. Emphasis throughout is on basic techniques which, with the use of commercially available products, will allow the modeller to bring his layout to a reasonably complete condition quickly and easily." The price is $6.95.

CUIRASSIERS AND HEAVY CAVALRY - Dress Uniforms of the German Imperial Cavalry 1900-1914 by D.S.V.Fosten is in the smaller, 6"x8 1/2" size, but has 136 pages. It consists mostly of photos, paintings and drawings with 16 pages in color and seems to cover the subject quite thoroughly. It sells for $4.95.

HUSSARS AND MOUNTED RIFLES Uniforms of the Imperial German Cavalry 1900-1914 - by D.H. Hagger is in the larger 7"x9", size with 96 pages, otherwise it follows the same highly illustrated format, with 16 color pages. The price is $6.95.

LANCERS AND DRAGOONS - Uniforms of the Imperial German Cavalry 1900-1914 - by R.J. Marrion follows the same format as the immediately preceding volume, including 16 pages of color, but has 128 pages. It sells for $7.95.

FLODDEN - the Anglo-Scottish War of 1513 by Charles Knightly is one of Almark's "Great Battles" series. It is in the large, 7 1/2"x9" size, with only 48 pages. It has a higher proportion of text but still has 16 pages in color - very effectively used. A good introduction to the subject. The price is $3.95.

LEIPZIG - The Battle of the Nations - by Per-Eric Jansson is another of the "Great Battles" series, also in the large size and with 48 pages, its subject is the great, climatic, Napoleonic battle of 1813, which the book is not really large enough to cover completely, but it is an adequate introduction. It has 16 pages of excellent color paintings of uniforms by Victor Ambrus - which leave you wishing for more. It also sells for $3.95.

THE YEARS OF NAPOLEON - by C.J. Hunt and G.A. Embleton is in the smaller, 6" x 8 1/2" size. with 88 pages, thoroughly illustrated, with 3 pages in color. This is a good introduction and overview of the Napoleonic Wars consisting of an historical narrative interspersed with information on the organization, equipment and uniforms of the major powers. It sells for $6.95.

THE AMERICAN CIVIL WAR - by C.J.Hunt andC,.A.Embleton is also in the smaller format. but has 128 pages, and does adequately, for our Civil War what the previous volume (by the same authors) does for the Napoleonic period. It is even more profusely illustrated, with lots of photos and 8 pages of color paintings of uniforms and flags. It also sells for $6.95

FIELD ROCKET EQUIPMENT OF THE GERMAN ARMY 1939-1945 - by T.J. Gander is in the smaller format with 71 pages stuffed with photos and drawings, but none in color. It covers such subjects as the Nebelwerfer, Luftfaust, Panzerschreck, Puppchen, Panzerfaust, Sturmtiger and others, and covers them well. It sells for $4.95.
