Tank Facts and Feats

Book Review

by Don Lowry

Kenneth Macksey authored (not just edited) this work, also from the Two Continents Publishing Group, with special maps and diagrams drawn by Michael Haine. The format is identical to that of TANK FACTS and FEATS, but, of course, the subject is different. The chapter titles are "The Roots of Strife - from Primitive man to the dawn of civilization", "The Millennium of Organization, 600 BC - AD 400", "The Equine Millennium, 378-1415", "The Gunpowder Revolution, 1416 - 1760", "The Rise of Industry, 1760-1860", "The Epoch of Totality, 1861 - 1915", The Epoch of Mechanisation, 1916 - 1944", the Parodixical Epoch, 1944 to the present day". And there are appendices on war of the future and military engineering, a table of important recorded campaiqns with their crucial battles, and a bibliography. Like TF&F this work is thoroughly and excellently illustrated, with over 150 monochrome photographs and prints, 16 plates in full color and a series of specially commissioned maps to explain the maneuvers of many of the major battles. This work is a valuable addition to any wargamers library. It retails for $8.95 and should be available at book stores and military hobby shops.
