Marc Antony has invaded Parthia to avenge Crassus and emulate Caesar. The attack has been well prepared and after a rapid and successful advance Roman forces are now besieging the important city of Phraaspa. Winter is now approaching, in order to succeed before supplies run out reinforcements and a siege train have been summoned. You are in command of these reinforcements. By marching through difficult country you have kept the Parthians at bay. You are now getting close to the main Roman army and the enemy forces are getting stronger. You have a legion with some auxiliaries and are supported by Armenian allies who are providing heavy and light cavalry support (arms which are vital if you are to fight the Parthians on equal terms). They have their own commander - Polemo. To succeed in your mission you must escort the train across the table and exit off the road leading to Phraaspa (major victory) or hold a 'firm' defensive position on table with a water supply and the train intact (minor victory). Your combined forces start anywhere along the Roman table edge between the main road and the track. Be aware that it is very hot. Should you be compelled to fight a major engagement you are advised to secure the oasis. All Roman units (except the Gauls?) are considered regular. Note No Roman leader may command Armenian units (or vice versa). OOBStatianus: CinC Average to Poor (May command any Roman units)
