Staff General: Officers wore a double breasted jacket with scarlet., collar, cuffs and turnbacks all decorated silver oak-leaf. designs and silver epaulets. White breeches were worn with black leather heavy cavalry style boots. The square dark blue shabraque was edged in heavy silver lace and the Ducal cypher appeared in the corners, while the Ducal star was embellished on the pistol covers. The Generals wore a black bicorn edged in silver embroided lace, large cockade, white plume and the outer edges of the bicorn decoraied with white feathers. Staff Officers wore a single breasted coat faced scarlet without the silver oak leaf design to collar, cuffs and turnbacks. A silver contre-epaulet and aigulette was worn on the right shoulder. The bicorn was the same as the generals though devoid of feathors. Flags and Standards Up until 1808, each regiment of infantry carried two standards, the Leibfahne, carried by the first battalion, and the Regimentefahne, carried by the second battalion. In 1808 the Leibfahne was withdrawn, and presumably members of the first battalion now carried the Regimentefahne. The Leibregiment carried a flag and regiments 2, 3, and 4 carried flags in a different pattern.
The design for regiments 2, 3 and 4 was the same for both sides of the flag. The flags were carried on natural wood varnished staffs with brass finials. The Garde du Corps carried a light blue vexillum with silver griffin, fringe, cords and chains. The griffin on the flag itself, was black with silver beak, claws and crown and holds a yellow shield with red stripe. The ground is green with flags of various colours and scattered, equipment in their own colours. The dragoons and hussars each carried a standard, see colour illustrations.
