8. RSM Miniatures Are Available Once Again!

Paul Petri reports that the old RSM miniatures line of figures are available once again under new ownership. The line of figures was sold to The Dayton Painting Consortium, Ltd. 140 Indiana Avenue Dayton, Ohio 45410 Telephone: (513) 253-1359

The new company intends to fill out the line with some new figures and now offer them in bags of 36 foot figures with command for $23.40 (i.e. $0.65 per figure). Cavalry bags include 12 riders and horse for $11.80 per bag. They also carry the complete RSM line of 20MM ACW and Napoleonic figures. Chris Fahnstock is the principal person to contact. This is wonderful news for those of us who have built our armies with RSM figures and feared that they would never be available again. I plan to buy a few more tons of lead to guarantee that I do not run out of new recruits in the future. Paul also reports that the company produces a line of 15mm and 25mm flags for the SYW. So far, they offer Austrian and French seven sheets covering 84 different units), three Prussian sheets covering 27 foot units and five sheets covering Russian infantry and cavalry!!! Paul bought a few flag sheets and attests to their quality and beauty. The company also offers a painting service. I look forward to meeting these fellows and seeing them at our next SYWA convention in South Bend.

9. Signifer Flags for the Jacobite Rebellions

During a recent visit to EHQ I discovered some beautiful 15mm and 25mm flag sheets for this period and it almost made me want to paint up new Jacobite Rebellion armies so that I could use these flags. Item number SYW328A includes the following flags: 2 Atholl flags, Appin, Cameron, and Cameron of Lochiel. Item number SYW328B includes 2 Royal Ecossais flags, Fraser of Lovat, Glenbucket's Regt., Grant, and Kilmarnock's Guard. The 25mm packs are $3.30 each, but I did not see the 15mm samples so I am not sure of their price. I assume that the 15mm packs include the same assortment of flags.

10. Old Glory 15mm Jacobite Lowlander Infantry

The latest addition to OG's 15mm Age of Reason line, item JAB-4 is a bag of 100 assorted Lowland infantry dressed in trews, long jackets and bonnets. All appear to be armed with muskets and bayonets and they are in a sort of port arms, advancing pose. I could not tell whether or not there were any command figures in the bag, which costs $18.50. These are a nice addition to the existing range and could serve as pro-government militia or Jacobites of various kinds. There is no reason not to put a few of them into your clan units as well.

11. Old Glory UK SYW Flag Sheets

We seem to have an abundance of 15mm flag sheets these days, and I was particularly impressed with the offerings of this company which distributes the Old Glory line of miniatures in the UK. EHQ carries their flag sheets in the USA. You get six 15mm flags per pack for $4.00 and the artwork is very good. Believe it or not, they now offer Hanoverian Infantry flags!!!!! I am excited because Hanoverian flags are among the most difficult for anyone to paint, due to their complexity. Pack HA1 includes six white "King's Colors"; HA2 includes the following six regimental colors: IA (Von Scheiter), 2A (Von Sporken), 3B (Von Schulenberg),4A (Von Bock), 5A (Von Laffert) and 8A (Von Roedern or Redern). Pack HA3 includes 6A (Hardenberg), 7B (Plessen), 9B (Jung Zastrow),1 I A (Dreves), 12B (Estorff) and 13A (Halberstadt). Perhaps they will tackle the cavalry flags next.

OG-UK also has a fair number of British and French flags for both infantry and cavalry-- BCI British Cavalry Flags is very useful except for the fact that the company doesn't bother to identify which regiments the flags represent. The majority of gainers are not experts on the period to the extent that they can identify the flags unaided.

Pack B 11 includes three regiments with their regimental and King's colors per pack: 11th, 32nd and 44th Regiments; while Pack B12 consists of the same for the 1st, 3rd and 58th Regiments.

Prussian Cavalry is represented by Packs PCI, PC2 and PC3 and the infantry packs come in sets of Regimental or Liebfahne flags.

PR 1 (Regts 1,4,12,18,34,and 40 -regimental flag)

PR2 (Regts 2,5,10,32,45, and 45 -regimental flag)

PR3 (Regts 6,15,17,24,36, and 39 - regimental flags)

The Liebfahnen sets are PLI, PL2, and PL3 and include the same series of flags as in the corresponding PR series packs. So it is very easy to equip your Prussian infantry with both sets of flags. Clever idea !

12. Old Glory 25mm Austrians and Prussians

This is no typo. In addition to a fine 15mm line of SYW figures, OG now makes them in 25mm. You might recall that the company produces French and British regulars for the French & Indiana War that naturally would be suitable for European battles. Old Glory introduced a 25mm line of SYW Austrians and Prussians at this summer's Historicon Convention. I only recently found out about these figures. At the present time, there are six bags of Prussian infantry ( I command and 1 marching bag each for musketeers, grenadiers and fusiliers) and 8 bags of Austrian infantry (command and marching bags for German musketeers, German grenadiers, Hungarian musketeers, and Hungarian grenadiers) . Each bag includes 30 infantry figures for $21.00. See the Old Glory advertisement in this issue for more details. I am told that the next release is scheduled for November 1995 and will start with the artillery for both sides, and followed later by cavalry and personalities. And yes, there will be a bag of Bosniak Lancers.

13. Old Glory 25mm American Revolution Figures

The latest releases in this vast line include British firing line, Highlanders with command, British Light Infantry and Line infantry, more American Riflemen in hunting shirts, Rhode Island Artillery, various Minutemen firing and advancing, and American and British personality packs. I took a quick peek at some of these goodies on a recent foraging trip to EHQ and I can attest to the fact that these figures live up to the high standards that Old Glory sets for itself. Highly recommended, as another famous Midwest wargame publisher would say. Refer to the list of new items in the Old Glory ad in this issue.

14. Elite Miniatures 25mm SYW Figures

This is just a reminder that Elite Miniatures has been releasing an extensive range of French, British, and Prussian figures. The sculptor, Peter Morbey, gets better and better with each product release and I have been particularly impressed with the variety of poses that are available in the Prussian line. Presumably the Austrians are on the horizon too. For more information, contact Elite's US distributor, H.G. Walls at the Griffon . The address is 121 W. Colfax Street, South Bend, Indiana 46601. The telephone number is (219) 287-5533 [10 am - 5 pm EST Monday through Saturday. Ask for Ken or for Herb Gundt for fast and courteous mail order service

15. H. G. Walls Custom-Built wargame Buildings

Here is another reminder about the service that SYWA member Herb Gundt provides for wargamers, i.e. the most terrific-looking wargame buildings on this planet. As a steady and long time customer, I can attest to the quality and value of the buildings that Herb is able to produce and quite a few of his marvelous creations grace my wargame table. Herb's latest project is to make several copies of the church at Hochkirk for Mike Schundler, Michael Lowry and me. I took a roll of snapshots of the church and surrounding buildings while on the Duffy Tour last year so that Herb would have something to work from. He always makes a few extras when he recreates a building, so anyone interested in a model of Hochkirk Church in 25mm, or for that matter, any other building that you might fancy, then write or call Herb at the following address: H.G. Walls 3026 Springbrook Drive South Bend, Indiana 46614 Tel.: (219) 299-0352
