1. Leuthen Day Wargame Convention

Our annual Holiday Season wargame/mini convention will be held on Saturday December 9, 1995 at the Emperor's Headquarters, 5744 West Irving Park Road, Chicago, IL . Last year's event consisted of 6-8 wargames held over an afternoon and evening game session and was well-attended by approximately 40 or so people. Scheduled games included Ottoman Turks vs Russians, a recreation of Frederick's attack on the Austrian right wing at Leuthen, and assorted other Austrian vs Prussian encounters. Anyone interested in hosting a game should contact Jim Purky or John Brewster at EHQ. We are considering a post-wargame visit to a local restaurant were we can share in the comraderie and tall tales of daring-do on the wargame table. A flyer listing available games will be mailed to Midwest members in November.

2. 13th Annual SYWA Convention

Will be held on Friday March 29 and Saturday March 30 at the Holiday Inn-Downtown in South Bend , Indiana. Paul Petri and Brian Vizek are the men on horseback who have volunteered to host this year's event. Our featured guest speaker will be Professor Christopher Duffy and he will give a talk about the Austrians at the Battle of Rossbach.

We have set aside a block of 20 rooms at the Holiday Inn at a special convention rate of $59.00 per room. These rooms were booked up rather fast last year, and procrastinators ended up paying the regular rate of $89.00 or they were shut out completely once all the rooms were booked. I strongly encourage everyone to make your reservations now--it's not too early! Call the Holiday Inn at (219) 232-3941 and be sure to mention that you are a member of the SYWA in order to get the room discount.

Anyone interested in hosting a wargame should contact Paul Petri at 1012 Dartmouth Drive, Bartlett, IL 60103 [Telephone: 708-2892182]. Again, it's not too early to volunteer for a game event.

So mark this date on your calendar, make your room reservations and bring an armload of Duffy books for an autograph session.

Once again, for the third time in twelve months, your editor is moving to another house. Future correspondences should be sent to me at 3127 Park Place, Evanston, IL 60201 . Since the move is only six blocks away, I am hopeful that I can retain my current telephone and fax line.
