6. Wargamers Guides to the War of Austrian Succession
Association member Stephen Manley writes to advise that he is publishing a series of uniform and flag guides for this period. The first four issues appear to be available and include the following: Vol. I Uniforms of the French Army 1740-1748 Vol. II Uniforms of the British Army 1739-1748 Vol. III Uniforms of the Dutch Army 1740-1748 Vol. IV Uniforms of the Spanish Army 1739-1748
Stephen also reports that work in preparation includes similar volumes on the uniforms of the Prussian, Austrian and Italian and German states armies, together with works on the colours and standards of the forces participating in the war. 7. Rob Roy, The Movie
Now available on videotape at local video stores. As usual, you will have to wait 3 or 4 months before you can actually buy the film for your collection. If you can not wait, then watch for it to appear on HBO or one of the other movie channel on cable TV and tape the film for your own collection. The film stars Liam Neeson, Jessica Lange , John Hurt and features Tim Roth as one of the best movie villains that I have seen in a long time. The costumes are superb, the scenery is fabulous and it is a good tale in its own right. The action takes place in 1712, a little bit before our time , but close enough to be of interest to association members. "All men with honor are kings, but not all kings have honour "
