The Corps of Grenadiers and the 1,000 horse under the orders of LieutenantGeneral Sprecher are encamped behind the Schweidnitz Wasser resting their right on the village of Rathen in order to protect the Headquarters on that side. From the Austrian advanced posts at Gross-Mochber and at Neukirch, we detected that the Prussians are building retrenchments and batteries near the village of Schmiedefeld and Klein-Mochber, where they have several battalions encamped. From Schmiedefeld they would be able to discommode the Austrian Right Wing by long range bombardment, however, judging from the orientation of the embrasures in those works, they appear primarily intended to defend the passage of the Lohe in case of an attack. Some Prussian jagers, who had taken position in the wood in front of Pilsnitz and on the banks of the river, have killed a corporal and two Croats of the advanced posts. We were obliged to fire several cannon shot to dislodge them. The main bodies of the two opposing armies passed the day quietly in their camps without making the least movement.
