2nd July: The Royal Hospital Chelsea and its Pensioners and Something of the Records

A lecture in robes by John Carbis, pensioner at the hospital. After more than three centuries the Royal Hospital Chelsea is still flourishing, today as a hospice for the British Army's veterans. When a large estate of buildings such as the Royal Hospital Chelsea is so well known, it is difficult not to be very proud of being an 'In-Pensioner'.

3rd September: Naval Surgeons in the 17th & 18th Centuries

John Hailey explains how one can trace the career of a surgeon and uses a case history to illustrate this. John talks of the project he is helping with, to index miscellaneous letters received by the Navy Board, including those from Barbers Surgeons Companies that list surgeon, master and the ship.
