News from The Nelson Society

In 1993 this society arranged the acquisition of copies of the Muster Lists of the ships forming Nelson's Squadron at the Battle of the Nile (1 and 2 August 1798). This valuable archive is now being put on disc and made available to researchers. For the Vanguard, Nelson's flagship in the battle, a special approach has been adopted and the work expanded into book form. Besides the Muster List the book covers events leading up to the battle itself and the aftermath, with both British and French perspectives being included. Where available, biographies of the men on the Muster have been included.

The book is priced at £ 12.50 plus postage, and is available from The Sales Manager, The Nelson Society, 16 Silver Lane, Billingshurst, West Sussex, RH14 9RJ. Tel/Fax 01403 782496.
