THE NAPOLEONIC ASSOCIATION has announced the formation of an annual award, to be presented to the individual or organisation that, in the opinion of the Award Committee has excelled in the promotion of interest and knowledge in the period 1792 -1815. Nominations for the award, which is open to any individual, organisation, museum, library or institution can only be made by members of the Napoleonic Association. The presentation to the winner of the 1997 first ever award will be made at the annual Napoleonic Fair in London on February 15th 1998, by Dr David Chandler, Honorary President of the Napoleonic Association and member of the Award Committee. Paul Chamberlain, Research Officer of the Napoleonic Association commented on the award: "Interest in this, one of the most fascinating periods of European history has been steadily increasing over the last few years. The inauguration of this annual award will provide The Napoleonic Association with the opportunity, not only to reward outstanding achievement, but to also publicly recognise the enthusiasm, interest and hard work undertaken by many groups and individuals who have each made their contribution to this growing awareness."
