A series of uniform plates with accompanying text on the Prussian Army of 1787 to 1807. By Georg Ortenburg, Peter Merta and others. Price per part approx. £ 45.00. For further details, contact: Peter Hofschröer, Posfach 1427, D-56174 Vallendar, Germany.

Three parts of this series have now been produced although its final length has yet to be determined. Each part contains around 20 hand coloured A4 format uniform plates. The accompanying text is in German. The plates and text are photocopied, the former on paper when card or thick paper would have been better. The text is produced on a word processor.

The plates cover the uniforms of each regiment in some detail. It is planned to cover every regiment of the Prussian Army of this period. The end result will be a thorough documentation of the subject.

Ortenburg, secretary of the German military Historical Society, and Merta, of the museum for German History based in the former Royal Prussian Arsenal in Berlin, are acknowledged experts in their field. Their work is on the highest standards, even if the presentation a little lacking in professionalism.

Recommended.
