Circa 1863

Rules

Review by Paul R. Price

The rules London Wargames Section Rules: American Civil War, Circa 1863, were written by John Turnstill and cost $3.95. The ground scale is one millimeter equals one yard and the time scale is one turn equals two and a half minutes. The figure scale is one miniature figure equals thirty-three actual men and one artillery figure equals six guns. No recommendations for figure mounting are given.

Circa 1863 is definitely a rules set for an ACW game as opposed to an ACW simulation. However, this should be expected because the rules set is almost twenty-five years old. As a consequence, I'd recommend this set of rules to rules historians, gamers wanting simple games, or collectors. Contact Soldiers World, 1057 Norwood Street, Radford, Virginia, 24141.
