Landscape Turned Red

Review: ACW Rules

Reviewed by Paul R. Price

At Origins '93, I played a Chickamauga Creek scenario using the yet-to-be published rules Landscape Turned Red. The scenario was supported by exceptional terrain Provided by Scott Bowden and by 10mm ACW figures. The resu1t would have been a good showcase for any set of rules. However, Landacape Turned Red can stand on its own. Within three turns, most of the players could resolve the artillery and rifle fire results without help from the GM authors Fred Stoval and Scott Bowden, and those involved in melee (I was not) seemed to be grasping the basics of those syatems as well. Indeed, the only criticism I have of this event was that the battle was too big for the limited time (4 hours) allotted, and consequently, there was no decisive result.

Overall, the event did well displaying the rules. I look forward to their publication.
