The undead have potent natural attacks and defenses, making them feared opponents for characters of any level. Their spell immunities and debilitating touch make them stand out from common monsters that fear magic and must strike an enemy with force enough to break bones or cut flesh. The undead merely saunter into their enemy's reach, reckless of their attacks and deal death and destruction with a common touch. When these innate abilities are augmented by magical items, the undead can overcome their weaknesses or use their horrible attacks in new ways. Although these creatures and their items are defined in AD&D terms, they are easily adaptable to any game system. They may appear as major or minor villains for player characters of different degrees of power. Although they are generally independent and do not serve a greater evil, they might have temporary allies for any reason.
