The next section identifies Armies mentioned in Historical books or other Wargaming books. Many of these come from the vast region and era of the Persian Empire. The Persian vassals sent troops to combat outside enemies but they were often free to war against other vassal tribes over land claims or to fight intruders such as Xenophons Expedition. The troop classifications are based on those cited in DBM but many are reasonable assumptions based on similar troop types of the era, The Persian Era and Region “Armies of the Greek and Persian Wars”, by Richard Nelson, WRG Press. East Ethiopians were located along the Persian coastline near the Indus valley.
Paracania was located along the Persian coastline.
Caspians were located SE of the Caspian Sea.

Colchia, Mares, Saspires and Alarodes were located west of the Caspian Sea.
Pissidians, Milyae and Cabelees were located in southern Asia Minor.
Tibareni and Moschi were located along the Black Sea.
Macrones and Mossynoeci located in Asia Minor also fought Xenophon’s Expedition.

The Arians and Pactyes were located on the eastern border of the Persian Empire in Pakistan and Afganistan.
