Feb 6, 1897. Greek expeditionary force lands in Crete (2000 men + Cretan volunteers) and captures the Turkish Voukolia forts in Chania. Feb 7, 1897. The Chania operation continues with attacks on Turkish fortified positions in Agia and Leivadia. April 3, 1897. Greeks probe Turkish positions on the Analepsis Heights in Larissa, Thessaly. April 6, 1897. Turkish offensive in the Nezero, Melouna and Gritzovali sectors in Thessaly succeed in capturing Melouna and Gritzovali. April 7, 1897. Greek offensive in the Eprius region cross the Arachthos river and capture Philippias. Turkish troops retreat toward the Louros river. April 9, 1897. Greek units probe Turkish positions near Metsovo. April 11, 1897. Battle of Deleria. In the Tirnavos region of Thessaly, the Greek 4th Brigade defends the area near Deleria which is attacked by elements of the Turkish 5th and 6th Divisions. The Greeks withdraw after a long stubborn defense. The loss forces a general Greek withdrawal south of Larissa on the 12th. April 17, 1897. Battle of Velestino. Greek Brigade under Smolenskes defends against a series of Turkish Divisional attacks. After repelling the attack, the Greeks launched a counter-attack which achieved limited success. Often regarded as their only victory of the war. April 24, 1897. A Greek Brigade under Smolenskes defends against a series of Turkish Divisional attacks. They hold most of the ground in Pharsala that they gained a few days earlier. April 26, 1897. Battle of Pharsala. Greek Brigade under Smolenskes defends against a series of Turkish Divisional attacks. The Turks drive the Greeks out of Pharsala and even beyond the original Greek defensive line at Velestino. May 2, 1897. Turkish Eprius Offensive. Turkish forces assault Greek positions in Gribovo. the Greeks are forced to retreat to new positions near Arta. May 5, 1897. Turkish Domokos Offensive. Several Turkish Divisions launch a savage attack which drives the Greek 1st and 2nd Divisions south to the Othrys mountains. Aug 25, 1898. Turkish troops annihilate ethnic Greek rebels (700) at Herakleion, Crete. This was after the withdrawal of the Greek Army from Crete and after the Greco-Turkish War had ended.
