"Night and Day I scan horizon, sea, and sky
My spirit wanders endlessly
Until the day will dawn and friends from home discover why
Hear me calling, rescue me."

-- Iron Maiden, Stranger in a Strange Land

Tlan Orbital Station

This is orbital astronomical station Tlan-547. We just registered an exceptionally strong gravitational pulse 2,700 Glins from our present position and 450,000 Glins above Lith. The pulse lasted for only an instant, but immediately afterwards a ship appeared...

Lunar High Command

Please confirm, you said a ship appeared? Is it a Clan ship from the surface? Does it appear to he usina some new camouflage technology? I am relaying this communication to Defense Command.

Tlan Orbital Station

The ship simply appeared out of nothing. It is of unknown design and there is a continuous lowlevel gravitational anomaly surrounding it. It is currently accelerating but using an unknown drive without any detectable exhaust plume. Please advise, I believe we have made contact with aliens from another star system.

While traveling on the fringes of the Imperium, the PCs misjump far outside its borders. They emerge in a previously uncontacted system inhabited by non-starfaring aliens who are currently in the middle of a trade war. Most of the aliens, the Xathal live on their homeworld, which is currently in an ice-age.

The rest of the Xatha live in the asteroid belt. The planet-dwellers and the belters are opponents in a bitter trade war. The planet-dwellers resent the wealth and advanced technology of the belters, as well as their apparent lack of concern for conditions on the home-world. Tempers are running high, and both sides are convinced that the other's demands are selfish and unreasonable.

This star system is relatively far from any other system, so the PCs will need drop-tanks to make the journey. The PCs must negotiate with one or both of the sides of the trade war in order to obtain the proper equipment. The aliens are relatively backward in their energy production and space travel technologies, but quite advanced in medicine, genetic engineering, and environmental technology.
