Hi there, I've been tasked, I mean asked to jot down my thoughts and impressions on HURRICON '98. To start with there was the trip down from Gainesville. Due to Hurricane Georges traffic leaving town, the ride into the Tampa area was no problem. Upon arrival while Bryan got the hotel room I went down and got myself registered. The process here went smooth as silk. Team Zizo is to be applauded for their efforts throughout the con. As to the gaming and dealer areas they were located in the same place as RECON '98, namely the ground floor ballroom in the central court area. The game area was in the center of the room with the dealers located against the walls. This seemed to work well for everybody. I mean you had dealers with goodies on the outside track and cool games on the inside track. Speaking of dealers, seemed we were a little light in that department. But due to the inclement weather I can understand that. The games being run were downright boggling in their variety and presentation. To start we had the Duke's Sudan extravaganza, which due to other commitments I was not able to play in. A friend of mine who did said he had a great time shooting up Mahdist forces until, of course, they overran him. Other games being run that I saw were the Irish, Viking, and Anglo-Norman free for all, a WW2 Pacific shoot-em up, and a Napoleon's Battles version of Albuera among others. All in all I would say even with the bad weather HURRICON was a success More Convention Coverage
