  • 1910: All received cage mast forward
  • 8-9/1915: North Carolina received fixed catapult aft. Aft 10 inch turret not usable. Catapult removed after one month, improved version reinstalled 2/1916 and on Washington. Normal carriage 3 aircraft, and occasionally one kite balloon.
  • May 16 Tennessee renamed Memphis.
  • Aug 16: Memphis cast aground by tidal wave in San Domingo, Dominican Republic. Wrecked.
  • Nov 16: Washington renamed Seattle.
  • 1917 Alterations for escort duty: Most lighter guns removed for use on merchants, and director fitted for 10 inch. Secondary armament becomes Casemate(1)4 6 in/50 Mk3, Lt Btry (1)12 3 in/ 50 Mk5 , no 3 pdr (7.8), 2 3 in/50 AA (Area AA = 2.1). Seattle, North Carolina seaplane fittings removed, aft 10 in turret again operational.
  • Jun 20: North Carolina renamed Charlotte.
  • Jul 20: Montana renamed Missoula.

  • 5 Apr 17: Huntington operated as seaplane tender, with catapult blocking use of aft 8 in mount. Carried 2-3 aircraft and occasionally one manned kite balloon. Served as aviation station ship at Pensacola. Seaplane equipment removed 10/1917.
  • 1917: Alterations for escort duty: Most lighter guns removed for use on merchants, Secondary becomes Casemate(1)4 Mk3 6 in/50, except Pittsburgh (1)8 6 in/50.
