Kevin Zucker, author of the forthcoming The Habit of Victory (through Greenhill and Stackpole in the USA), is hosting a tour of Napoleonic sites in Poland, including the battlefields of Eylau (February 1807) and Friedland (June 1807), as well as Tilsit where Napoleon and Tsar Alexander signed the peace agreement in July following these French victories. Each participant on the tour will receive a copy of Zucker's new book which covers the 1807 campaign, and there will be local Napoleonic historians who will act as translators and guides. The 14th annual conference of The Napoleonic Society of America will be held in the Monteleone Hotel in New Orleans, Louisiana, this fall. The itinerary includes an antiques bazaar (dealer room), program of speakers, dinners, an auction, and a tour of the 1815 battle site where an American force under Andrew Jackson inflicted one of the few defeats suffered by the British in the War of 1812. 21 February, 1999 The sixth annual Napoleonic Fair will again be held in central London at the Royal National Hotel on a Sunday next year, hosted by Greenhill Books, publishers of the Napoleonic Library series. The one day event will include a dealer room with dozens of stands of vendors offering books, militaria, prints, etc. There will also be wargame demonstrations, re-enactors, and a painting contest. Lecture presentations were added for this year's event and will be included again in 1999. Admission is £ 5 by catalogue (available at the door) with a prize drawing. It is not too early to start planning for the 185th anniversary of Waterloo battle re-enactment. If you would like to participate, you can join the Brigade Napoléon, or, if you prefer to fight the forces of the "Corsican Ogre" you can enlist in The Highland Brigade, an informal worldwide association of re-enactment units portraying Scottish Highland regiments of the British Army during the Napoleonic era. The Brigade consists of the 42nd and 71st Regiments in England (part of the Napoleonic Association in Britain), the 42nd and 79th in Germany, the 42nd in Australia, and the 93rd plus the new 42nd forming in North America. All are actively recruiting and accept ladies and family members.
