Napoleonic Saxon Heavy Cavalry

Sven-Olaf Linke, Saxon by birth, wrote to us that he found two errors in the feature article on the French carabiniers in issue #10:

"First, the Saxon general's name is Thielmann, not Thielemann (even many German books make the same mistake).

"Second, after the disastrous campaign in Russia, the Saxon Garde du Corps was never rebuilt, only the Zastrow-Kürassiere were brought up to strength again. The other regiment of cuirassiers in the 1813 campaign was the Leib-Kürassier-Garde (so named after the campaign of 1807).

"Even so, at least the Zastrow-Kürassiere were rebuilt with new recruits and achieved much of their old combat ability again, so [the author's] remark 'It is interesting to speculate how the Saxon cavalry, totally devastated in 1812, recouped to perform prodigies of valor again in 1813....' is right on."
