As referenced previously, Mr. Hofschroer gives the French 22,300 on this part of the field. The total from the database is in the neighborhood of 9,000 men short. I am left to puzzle on this discrepancy. Ledebur M R 4/1 Notes: Both the Uhlans and 6th Hussars are listed as having a "jaeger detachment" with the regiment. SHAKO does include rules for infantry skirmishers, but I could find no reference to the mounted equivalent. If these are actually mounted jaegers (mounted infantry, like a traditional Dragoon), then I'm not certain that there would be enough of a complement to warrant the additional movement stand. It was not until, through the efforts of Lieutenant-Colonel von Sohr, the army ammunition train reached Wavre at 5 p. m. that these corps regained their ability to fight. Ten-thousand men lost shared between two corps, works out to roughly 5,000 casualties per formed body. Dividing this total by four (brigades in each corps), one arrives at a figure of about 1300 men. It is, I readily stipulate, poor math to suggest that 10,000 casualties may be evenly distributed among the units of I and II Corps. However, for purposes of this specific SHAKO reconstruction, I think the emphasis must be placed on the number of battalions. One can tinker to his heart's content afterward, adjusting unit MR to reflect troop quality, experience, condition and so forth. In some respects then, one could argue that the Landwher troops of these corps would be "new" veterans and so be able to fight on a level field with Regular troops. General Notes on Prussian Order of Battle at Plancenoit:If the numbers are off with the French Order of Battle (Fields of Glory compared to the Hofschroer narrative), then they are even more so with respect to the Prussian forces.
