Scenario 1: Battle of Mort Poresby

Texas-Anglo Tactical Alliance (TATA) Briefing

Prussian-Otornan Empire forces are attempting to establish mining rights in a rich area already claimed and settled by Texans. They have driven some of the civilians from their homes in Mort Poresby with veiled threats of the use of poison gas, and hope to establish "squatter's rights" to the area by occupying the abandoned parts of the town. The first step of this process is to establish a military presence in the area.

Mort Poresby is a valuable mining area, and Texas and her allies will not willingly release those riches. Using the single largest portion of the settlement, still under Texan control, as a base, the allies must counter any POE attempts to move into the area.

There are new mining tunnels, almost complete, running to each of the Currently vacant sections of town. You may designate one unit to finish a mine section and appear halfway between the two buildings in a part of town, sometime after turn two, in a pre-determined formation and facing. The unit MUST appear on the turn chosen in advance. You will take the risk with just one unit, if any. Tell the gamemaster of your decision.

Some Of Your sentries heard possible Zeppelin motor sounds in the air during the night, and one reported seeing a dark silhouette against the stars to the rear of your position.

Your mission is to destroy any invaders and control as much of the town as possible.

YOU WILL WIN if by the end of the gaming time, you "own" more buildings, by being the latest occupant, and have more non-routing figures on the table than the enemy does. YOU MAY WIN under other conditions, if so declared by the gamemaster.

Prussian-Ottoman Empire (POE) Briefing

The Empire needs the mineral riches of the Mort Poresby area. Texan and British settlers have been convinced to withdraw from their residences in part of the area. Now our military will establish control before our citizens enter. ]'here will be resistance from Texas-Anglo Tactical Alliance forces.

You have a significant assault force, including artillery and panjandrum attack devices. You also have a Zeppelin, which can land forces in the enemy rear, and then assist in the attack. Indicate to the gamemaster where and when (after turn one) you want the Zeppelin-borne unit to appear. The Zeppelin, armed with a heavy machine gun, will be available to assist in the attack on turn 1D2+1.

Your mission is to occupy as much of the town as possible and destroy or drive of fthe TATA defenders.

YOU WILL WIN if by the end of the gaming time, you "own" more buildings, by being the latest occupant, have more non-routing figures on the table than the enemy does, and your Zeppelin has not been destroyed. YOU MAY WIN under other conditions, if so declared by the gamemaster.
