Having only recently gotten into 25mm Napoleonic gaming I am always keeping an eye out for good quality cheap figures to build up those armies I am always dreaming about. One of the surprises that I have come across of late is the growing range of the locally made Tin Soldier Figurines, the most recent releases of which are Napoleonic Spanish. Figures are tall and lean with little flash on them - a real bonus when it comes time to paint and base. The faces on some of the range are very detailed along the lines of the Elite figure range. On others it is of a smoother style but still deeply etched enough to make for effective highlighting when painting. Equipment such as backpacks and bayonet pouches are finely detailed and also a really useful feature is the standards that come separate to the standard bearer figures. At $1.60 per figure they are real value for money. Made in Australia, both cavalry and artillery are being added to the range. Both the Front Rank figures and the Tin Soldier Figurines ranges are available through Essex Miniatures Australia. I would recommend giving Ray a call and sampling some of these figures for yourself. In the next issue we will look at some of the GRIPPING BEAST range of 25mm figures and the BATTLEFRONT 15mm WWII range of figures and vehicles now available from Essex Miniatures. More Reviews
