The Military Book Club has a very good book if you are interested in the American Indian Wars. A Guide to the Indian Wars of the West by John D. McDermott. The book is presented in two parts. Part One contains seven chapters: Causes and Limiting Factors, Opponents, Material Culture, Warfare, Indian and Army Life, The Indian Wars in Literature and the Arts, and Conclusion. These chapters make up a good, readable short, 110 pages, up-to-date guide to the Indian Wars. If you are going to write your own rules for these wars, or just game them, this has the info you need. The second part contains about 80 pages of places to visit west of the Mississippi River that have museums, forts monuments or whatever dealing with the wars. Very worthwhile if you are headed that way. This also contains brief lists of items for sale at each place, so that you could write or call them for info to purchase stuff. I think this is the first time I have seen this information all in one book. At the back is a list of 50 basic books on the Indian Wars that the author thinks most valuable. I could not find any I with which I would disagree. Highly Recommended! More Book Reviews
