(25mm figures)

reviewed by Bob Giglio

These are highly recommended figures and equipment necessary for any riverine expedition boat, well, unless it's a dingy. GET THESE WHILE YOU CAN. Illustrated are:

WC-63 Boat Vents 1 3/4 tall, set of 2 $1.00
WC-60 Boat Davits for small boats. 2 1/2 tall. Set of two. $2.00
CL-75 Maxim-machinegun on medium wheeled hand carriage 1 ea $2.50
CW-15 Should actually be WC-15 Gatling gun (1883) doughnut cannister (Closed barrels) on cone mount $1.50
WC-01 30 pdr Rapid fire Naval Gun on mount w/half round shield $2.50
WC-25 Naval fire fighting crew. 2 w/ax, 1-bucket, 1 hose (4) $2.00
WC-36 Naval Crew with medium shells 2 different figures $4.00 The positions noted here refer to the drawing foldout numbers for the side wheeler. I thought the boat vents (WC-63) a little tall so I cut off a half inch, they work very nicely on the sidewheeler just forward of the cabin. The Davits (WC-60) (position #4) fitted out with fine string to the boat from Merrimac Miniatures (1524 Lois Dr., Shoreview, MN 55126) looks great. Too bad no one makes any oarsmen for colonial naval actions.

The two machineguns are great, the cone mounted Gatling gun (WC-15) was placed on the upper deck of the wheelhouse at position #7. While the wheel carriage Maxim (CL-75) will be used for my Naval Landing Force.

The 30 pdr Rapid Fire Naval gun (WC-01) is at position 8 on the side-wheeler and painted white with brass fittings looks great. The WC-36 Naval Crew with Medium Shells serves the gun. I put a WC-21 Naval Deck Hatch just aft of the gun and off center in an open position built upon a piece of balsa wood to give it some height off the deck. I cut one of the crew with a shell off at the waist and glued him into the open hatch as though he were handing up a shell from below, looks very effective.

As to the fire fighting crew every landlubber captain as myself should have these figures handy, cuz yer gunna need'em if you pilot your boat like I do, d--- dice.
