The following is a pre-release list of the official Old Glory of 25mm (actually 28mm foot to eye) Colonial ranges for the Zulu War, Boer War, and Indian Mutiny ranges which will be avaiable at Fall In! (Nov. 6-8, Gettysburg, PA). Please note, that these packs/bags may be adjusted slightly, or more added. I will be working with Russ Dunaway (President, Old Glory) on this very soon, as I am the official Colonial demonstrator for the Old Glory Colonials, as well as Designer of the 2nd edition SOLDIER'S COMPANION rules. I should note, that over the past few months I have provided Old Glory with what the various packs/bags of colonials for their ranges should contain. I must say, that the ranges are pretty complete, even adding dismounted Natal Mounted Police and British Cavalry too, not to mention a few packs/bags of personality figures and a Last Stand at Isandlwana (which I had not even suggested)! You will also note, that with many of the packs/bags, the command is already included. This was one of my suggestions, as it then gives you relatively complete units, and will hopefully prevent the problem of having too many (or not enough) command figure types (i.e. too many musicians, etc.). If you have any comments on these lists, or suggestions for other bags, then feel free to contact me directly (5732 Goldfinch Ct., Ellicott City, MD 21043; E-mail at: ECWCaptain@aol.com). I am also in the process of convincing Old Glory that they need to expand the 'Sons of the Desert' range with Tirailleurs, Spahi's and French Foreign Legion artillery, as well as Arab Infantry Command bags. Well, it seems that the colonial wargaming period is going to have a renewed lease on life so to speak. I think you will agree, that these ranges prove that Old Glory is very dedicated to the colonial period, and willing to support the release of the 2nd edition of the SOLDIER'S COMPANION rules (slated for Mar./Apr. '99). Now, all I can say is, plan ahead on what you want, as the more demand for colonials, the more impact we can make on Old Glory for future releases to the ranges. Note: Each pack/bag contains 30 foot or 10 horse, command contain less figures. Prices should be the same as for other Old Glory ranges (i.e. $24 for 30 foot or 10 horse, etc.). Zulu War - British

2) Victorian Civilian figs - Its quite possible that a bag will be done for these (one bag should cover them). But, again, depends on sales, and Foundry already has the characters to cover this, for the most part. Sales wise, I was told that its better to sell bags of Zulus or other natives than the one occassional bag of civilians. Makes sense...:) 3) Teddy/Span-Am Range - Yes, a 25mm range for this is already under way... I mentioned that to "flesh-out" the American Colonial era, to do Phillipine and Moro figs, which may be in a future release too. 4) Tiralleurs - These will be done in the Mex-Am War range, to cover the French Conquest of Mexico, etc., so the Legion of the 'Sons of the Desert' will have the other units to round out the range with (finally). 5) Shields - Yes, these will be separate for Dervish, for you to use or discard as you please, based on desire/history. New Stuff - Buildings, etc. Well naturally a range of buildings is planned, but the only set on the drawing board (so to speak) at present are the buildings for the Legations (Boxer Rebellion). I suggested a Sudan steamer/gunboat, and was told to send plans, etc., so the designers can work with me on it. I figured that a steamer was easy to do, and it was agreed by Russ that "yeah, I didn't think of that", and hopefully will be inexpensive too (as compared to the one from Redoubt/Village Green -- at least in this country with all the mark-up!). I am also going to send Russ info on Dhowls and Ghaisses for the Nile as well, and hopefully they can make these too. At present about 3-6+ bags are done for most of the colonial ranges, with more under way, but nothing available for delivery until Fall In! (at least for the general public).
