Clan War
Scorpion Clan Army Expansion

by AEG

Review by Russ Lockwood

If you buy into the miniatures system of Clan War, AEG makes a number of clan-specific expansion packs to add some personalities and style to your army. Included are new cards covering personalities, spells, and units, new miniatures, and a 48-page rules booklet containing the clan "history," clan-specific rules, optional rules, illustrations, and brief bios of personalities and units.

The Scorpions are the "most maligned" of all the clans and seen as villains. They are masters of the misdirection, relying on spying, secrets, and blackmailing to accomplish their objectives rather than stand-up fights.

Again, the expansion set contains miniatures for gaming with Clan War. The figures are well modeled and relatively free of metal flash, so only a couple minutes with a knife will suffice to create a clean figure ready for priming. The armor will paint up nicely

These figures are one piece and represent the personalities described in the booklet. A pair of them are pictured at right. All figures are unpainted.

Again, the Rules Additions and Rules Errata are included inside. You'll need to know them to use the expansion. For example, new spells and special abilities are explained. For example, Scorpions can recruit other clan members for an increased cost--a chart details the cost on a per clan basis.

The personality and unit cards (a personality card for Bayushi Goshiu is at right) are reproduced in the booklet, along with a short fictional bio and illustration of the unit or personality and advice on how they are supposed to be used.

And that's it. Like the Naga expansion set, the figures are cool, the information relevant to Clan War, and the price is $45.
