In this article I will only describe service and campaign dress and not include the full dress descriptions, maybe at a later date--ADPM UNIFORMS:On the 23rd December, 1938, a Decree by the War Office of the Uruguayan Government, introduced a new "Army Uniform Regulations" which included all the modifications suffered since 1928. In fact it was not a new "Uniforms Regulations" as such but an "actualizacion" of the modified and complete "Army Uniform Regulations No.50" of 1928. The Arm of Service was identified by the colour that appeared in the collar patch, the piping in the shoulder straps and the service dress peaked caps, and also by the design of the insignia as follows:
For the insignia of the various arm and service, please see plate 2. where I have enclosed a selection of miscellaneous insignia. Also note that the officer has on his shoulder straps the insignia of his Arm of Service, Branch piping and rank insignia. Illustrations and Explanations
