Plate 3: Officer's Badges of Rank for shoulder straps and peaked cap visors
- General of Division; 2 small suns ("socitos"} and the National Coat of Arms, on a khaki green strap with outer piping in red scarlet and the inner lacework in gold.
- General; 1 sun, the rest as above.
- Colonel; Gold lace chevron, branch of service badge, three gold lace rank bars on a khaki strap piped in dark crimson / maroon for Cavalry.
- Lieutenant Colonel; as above except infantry branch badge, two rank bars and shoulder strap piping in green.
- Major; as above except with Engineers branch badge, one rank bar and piped in black.
- Captain; without chevron and thinner rank bars, 3 gold lace rank bars with Air Force branch badge, the strap being piped in blue.
- 1st Lieutenant; as above except piping colour which is for Artillery ( red / scarlet).
- 2nd Lieutenant; as above except for Engineer branch badge and piping in black, also the rank bars are two on the right shoulder strap and only one on the left shoulder strap.
- Alferez (Ensign); as above but with only one rank bar per strap and piping in green.
The officers class of rank was also shown on the cap visor (brown leather) by embroidered gold lace.
- General of Division; two rows of oak and laurel leaves.
- General; one row of mixed oak and laurel leaves.
- Colonel.
- Lt. Colonel.
- Major.
- Junior officers only used the plain leather visor.
