The first French Infantry Division to see service in Italy was the 2nd Moroccan Infantry Division, which arrived in Italy at the end of 1943. Two differences between the French and US organizations can be seen in the size and organizations of the AA (FTA) units, and the divisional recon elements. In the case of all French divisions, the recon element was a battalion-sized organization, instead of the single troop found in American Infantry Divisions. 2nd Moroccan Infantry Division (2nd DIM)
