JAPANESE NOTES

1.The Japanese players must work out a landing plan. The first wave may be loaded and leave Bataan no sooner than 9 PM on the 5th. (It will not be possible to bring the tanks with the first wave.) Each landing boat company must be assigned landing beach. More than one company may use the same beach, but each boat landing needs an area 2" wide to land on. (The Japanese players may freely check the beaches for size). It will take two hours to sail to Corregidor, and two hours to return to Bataan. Loading a second wave, including tanks, will take one hour. The landing craft are considered to be self ordering, and do not check morale. Once the landing boats reach Corregidor, it takes half of the stands' movement to exit the boat.

The landing boats may enter the board from any edge and move directly toward their landing beach. If no beach is directly in front of the landing craft, they will shift toward the nearest open beach. Attempts to land on the south side of the island may be subject to fire from Fort Hughes, a fortified island about 1000 yards south of the board. All landing craft need to be out of the area by 0700. All landing craft which are not back to Bataan at that time a considered lost.

2. All weapons brought over are considered man-handed.

3. Pure command and patrol stands each count as a 1/2 stands when loading.

4. Each 46' landing craft can carry any one of the following:

    1 light tank
1 75LI7 infantry gun and gun crew (ds)
1 37L45 AT gun, gun crew, and two other stands
1 70L10 infantry gun, gun crew, and two other stands

5. In addition, starting at 11 PM, and lasting for the remainder of the game, the Japanese will place an artillery barrage across the island along the 4" in from the west edge of the board. The barrage will be 2" wide, and all American stands moving through this area take map fire from Japanese 150L22 howitzers as per rule 16.21, i.e., each stand moving through is hit on a 3 or less. The remainder of the Japanese artillery will be firing at preselected targets on the rest of Corregidor. Other than the battalion and regimental weapons which are sent the island, there will be no indirect artillery support for the attack.

6. Landing craft are equipped with an MG, and are considered as vehicles moving for purposes of fire.

7. The Japanese 70L10 infantry guns operate under the Battalion gun Rule, i.e., their ROF is reduced to 1, and they carry a half-ton of ammo (7 shots). Stands of their parent battalions can call fire for these weapons.
