Motorized Infantry Division (DIM)

1939-1940 INFANTRY DIVISION

The French Army had 77 Infantry Divisions, which were subdivided into 7 different types: Active, (Motorized and Foot), Type "A", Alpine, Type "B", North African, and Colonial. While in theory all were to be similarly equipped, there are a number of important differences between them. To make things easier, rather than list the standard Infantry Division, and follow it with pages of notes, each type of infantry division will be listed separately;

NOTES

1. The Motorized Infantry Divisions were numbered as follows: 1st, 3rd, 5th, 9th, 12th, 15th, and 25th.

2. The Tank Squadrons of the 3rd and 12th used the H-35. All other formations used the AMR.

3. The Divisional Antitank Company had one of its 25/L72 AT Guns replaced by a 47mm AT Gun in early 1940.
