Peter Guilder, founder and major figure sculptor for Connoisseur Figures, passed away from Lou Gehrig's Disease this past November 25th. Peter was one of the pioneers of the hobby in England; manyarticles by him are to be found in Don Featherstone's Wargamers Newsleter. Peterwas co-founder with Frank Hinchliffe of Hinchliffe Models. While there, his figure designs led the hobby out of the toy soldier era and into the detailed miniature era. Peter's designs still are the ones to beat as can be seen by his Connoisseur and Elite figures. Peter started the Wargames Holiday Center in England where for a fee you could spend an entire vacation week gaming on superb terrain with superbly painted figures. Room and board was also included. I had several chances to chat with Peter both here and on his recently frequent trips to Historicon. He was one of the kindest, most gentlemanly people I have met in this hobby. He will be sadly missed by both his friends and the hobby as a whole. Courier Dispatch News of The Hobby
