HMGS Puts on Another Great Historicon

by Dick Bryant

HMGS East's Historicon'88 was held at the Penn Harris Hotel/Convention Center the third weekend of July and boasted over 850 attendees not cou nti Ing dealers. There were many more dealers than last year and they all went away happy and with much lighter loads.

Craig Taylor and Bob Coggins put on another great Liepzig game among rumors that the rules may get published by... SHHHH... Avalon Hill!

The Alamo was there again and even better terrain setups than last year.

The Courier Award for Best Demonstration of an Historical Miniature Wargame was presented to Bob Marshall of Royal Oak MI with his Storming of Monteray.

The ubiquitous Ed Mohrmann put on at least one game every game period (I think that I saw at least two Ed Mohrmanns at one point... ED) and everyone had a good time at them except for yours truly when he discovered that the Napoleonic game that he was participating in was On To Richmond in different costume - notone modification forthe period. But Ed is allowed one lapse out of perhaps 15 games in one weekend.

Unlike Origins, Historicon recognizes the importance of painting in the hobby and so awards it:
