Over the years my scattered readings and fevered imagination have devised various scenarios for grand tactical 1859 games, many of which are suitable for a more tactical treatment. The two big battles, Magenta, with several corps on each side, and Solferino - an oddity in which most of the armies on both sides managed to get into action, obviously call for grand tactical treatment. With hundreds of figures and a scale of 1 base to the battalion or cavalry regiment I don't quite have enough to do them justice, although I have successfully run Magenta on a reduced scale with 3-4 French and 4-5 Austrian Corps.
