Lamming Renaissance

Figure Review

by Jay Hadley

As indication of the growing popularity of the Landsknecht period of gaming, Lamming produces a series of the famous German fighting men. All of these figures are very nice with a personality all their own. The sculpture of each figure is unique with a wide variety of facial expressions and positions. Again all figures come with seperate heads, weapons and swords which is important in this period of warfare because of the incredible mix of headwear among these famous mercenaries.

The fun for the painter in this period is that practically any color can be used on any individual warrior. Lamming figures seem to lend themselves to the inventive painter without being overly detailed to confuse and frustrate the beginner. From the puffy sleeves to the knee length stockings these figures will be a pleasure to paint. Rating: Anatomy-.5, Animation - .6, Detail - .8, Paintability - .6, Casting Quality - .6, Total Rating: 3.1.

The Lamming artillery piece that we have reviewed is the British 9 lbs. Napoleonic gun. It is a very nice piece with seperate barrel and carriage. The important factor in field pieces is the amount of detail that goes into the "raining of the wood of the piece. This gun as a very good amount of detail and is recommended. Rating: 3.3.
