The Age of Napoleon issue 37 has an extract from Valery Volosin’s European Armies 1796-1815 covering the Old Guard cavalry at Austerlitz, an argument that Napoleon’s attack at Lodi was unnecessary, and a history of the French and Italian campaign in the Tyrol in 1809. There is an extract from a forthcoming book on Russian tactics in the Revolutionary an Napoleonic Wars which examines the employment of jagers, a discussion of the command and control of British light infantry, a half-dozen illustrations of British officer uniforms redrawn from contemporary paintings, a wargame scenario of the battle of Vittoria, and some reviews.. Several articles are multi-part across issues. 40 pp, glossy four-color. Lone Warrior covers solo wargaming. the January-March issue has rules for gladiators, Korean War aircraft, WWII motor torpedo boats, and WWI aircraft (complete with paper models). there also more general articles on a random movement system and generating random enemy forces and intentions for horse and musket games, along with some battle reports and reviews. 40 pp. The North American edition is available from: Solo Wargamers Association, 1707 Ridge Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048. $25 / 4 issues.

Seven Years War Association Journal begins issue XIII(2) with a 28-page examination of North Carolina’s participation in the Seven Years’ War and adds 11 pages on American Provincials at the Siege of Havana, and the first installment of a multi-part article on George Washington in the SYW. There is still space for continental topics, with a wargame scenario for Kolin, a comparison of Hochkirch (1758) with Austerlitz (1805) and illustrations of the battle flags of the Arquebussiers de Grassin. Spearpoint, the journal of the North American Society of Ancient and Medieval Wargamers, has a look at developing a First Crusade army for the Warrior rules, and the first part of an article on setting up a Sassanid Persian army, also for Warrior.
