Castaway Arts of Australia has introduced a line of Beau Geste-style French Foreign Legionaires. Barrett scale is 25M. The line consists of eight infantry figures plus two mule riders and mules. All are in North African marching kit of greatcoats, kepis with havelocks, and full packs with bedrolls and mess kits. All but three of the infantry have gaiters; none have fixed bayonets on their Lebel rifles. The correctly sized mules are convincingly laden with packs and gear. Sculpting on all the figures is clean, attractive, and nicely proportioned, as is always the case with Castaway Arts. Flash is minimal. No specifically Foreign Legion officers are included among the range, but the two officers from CA’s Franco-Prussian War line fit the bill. Infantry/riders US$1.70 each, mules US$2.80 each (varies with exchange rate); available from Castaway Arts, PO Box 7599, Cairns Q 4870, Australia; phone/fax 07 40412079; Online at www.castawayarts.com.au More Reviews
