Arquebusier is the journal of the Pike and Shot society. In 5 1/2 by 8 1/2 format, it has the center pages in color. In this issue, they are used to illustrate an Austrian infantry flag from 1691, and supporting material. This is accompanied by an account of the process of restoring the flag and determining its history. There is an article on using Warfare in the Age of Discovery to refight Leffighe, with an analysis of the kinds of battles for which the rules are best suited. Lone Warrior is published by the Solo Wargamers Association, and devoted to gaming alone. Issue 135 is packed full of rules (a 24 page set of campaign rules for Ancients), and ideas (WWI German infiltration tactics, medieval ambushes), solo scenarios (WWII building clearance), and letters. 46 pp. 1707 Ridge Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048. $20 / 4 issues.

Miniature Wargames is a full-color glossy from the UK filled with beautiful photographs of figures on the table that increase in sophistication with each issue, featuring backgrounds, added smoke, pinhole lenses and digital reworking. Issue 220 has a large feature on the upcoming Colors convention, but starts with a WWI game based on part of the battle of the Ancre (1916) using Over the Top, describing how the terrain was made, and the rules implemented. There are history pieces on Cosseria (1796), Summerdale (1529), Minden (1759), and the Polish Insurrection of 1831, plus scenarios for East Prussia (1944) and modern air conflict over the Formosa Straits, along with reviews, editorials, and letters.
