Lone Warrior is devoted to solo gaming. Its core function is to share rules and methods of solo play, and 126 continues the tradition with two sets of ECW rules, the second of two parts of a campaign system and a tactical ruleset. There is also an ACW cavalry expedition, a random army generator used in a Viking PBM game, some scenarios for a computer Age of Sail game, battle reports, and letters. 40 pp, $20 / 4 issues from Solo Wargamers Association, 1707 Ridge Rd, Leavenworth, KS 66048. Potomac Wargamer's Review exists to explore rule design from the point of view of Wally Simon. Each issue has a description of several rulesets of Mr. Simon's devising and a game played with each (no rule seems to survive longer than one game) with bountiful commentary on methods, results, and reasons. Published rulesets occasionally cross the sights of the editor, generally suffering the same fate. In the April issue a test game is played with a Napoleonics variant of DBx published in the June Wargames Illustrated, and the rules are found to be lacking in many respects. A set of Mr. Simon's Napoleonic rules are also described and tested, with similar conclusions. There are also ECW and WWII games. Issue 49 has scenarios for battles at Turner's Gap and Fox's Gap at South Mountain using Fire and Fury, and the background for a scenario at McLemore's Cove in Sept 1863. There is a variant of Brother Against Brother for fighting the battles of the Sioux Uprising, and a scenario of the Aug 1862 battle at Redwood Ferry in which to use them.
