GHQ has sent The Courier a whole fleet of new models for review. Along with the usual battleships and cruisers, there are several different transports. One new thing is that GHQ is starting to produce it's ships in pewter. The ships are as detailed as any cast in lead. They will need slightly more work to clean up than older castings. The U.S. is represented by BB Mississippi, CA Salt Lake City, DE Buckley (3), ARD Kane (3), SS Gato (5), and a Liberty ship. The Japanese have BB Ise (1942 model), BB Yamashiro (1942 model), CA Kako, SS I-19 (4), and a transport Hakusan Maru. The Royal Navy has BB Revenge, BC Renown, CM Manxman, and Flower class corvettes (4). The Germans have CL Nurnberg, CL Leipzig, and CV Graf Zeppelin added to the range. The Manxman was part of a class of large minelayers that saw extensive use during the aerial seige of Malta. They had the speed to make the run and a cargo capacity that was superior to a destroyer's. The Graf Zeppelin was never commissioned but could have been in service by '41 or '42 if she had been given higher pri- ority. The Royal Navy never had to face a carrier in the Atlantic, the CV Zeppelin will make for an interesting What if game. The releases include many that would be useful for a small, island hop- ping campaign in the Pacific. The I 19's are long range scouting submarines and come with the seaplanes that they carried. The Kane APD's are old Flush Deck destroyers that were converted to small attack transports and widely used for raids and small land- ings. The smaller ships come with more than one in a pack, the actual number is given in parenthesis above. Prices range from $4.95 for the CL's and smaller ships to $8.00 for the battleships. Graf Zeppelin is the most expensive at $9.95. Several of the ships come with little extras that make them stand out from the compe- tition. The Liberty ship comes with tanks and trucks that can be arranged as deck cargo, and the Graf Zeppelin comes with planes to spot on deck. These are all wonderful models and well worth getting. They have all the detail that GHQ is known for. They should be available at your local dealer or you can write to GHQ, 28 100 Woodside Rd, Shorewood, MN 5 5331 GHQ 1/2400 AIRCRAFT By Dick Bryant I have for years been bugging Gregg Scott and Jim Moffet to come out with a complete line of 1/2400 WWII aircraft for the ship line. (I like a lot of airpower in my Seekrieg games!). They had always had the for carrier decks but now they have all the PBYS, Bettys, Zeros, P51s, Lightnings, Zekes, Wildcats, B-24, B25, B17 and more than you can ever need. Beautifully detailed little models. I understand that there will also be a line of modern Jets and Helicopters. I don't know if my constant irritant had anything to do with it, but I'm glad there here. There seems to be about 30 -60 AC per packet for $6 - $12 depending on no. of planes in the packet. Available from GHQ (see address above). More Reviews
