HISTORICAL GAMER is now into its third year of publication. The February issue included articles on Pike and Shot tactics, the Spartan armies, infantry support weapons of WWII, the Battle of Tsushima, a comparison of Napoleon's Battles and Legacy of Glory in refighting Friedland, and a Renaissance scenario, along with reviews, commentary, and modelling tips. 32 pp, color covers, $25/6 issues from The Emperor's Headquarters, 5744 W. The May/June issue has a special focus on terrain, with several how-to articles as well as a quick treatment of why-to. It also contains an article on the Battle of Cryster's Farm from the war of 18 12, an account of the current Indo-Pakistani border conflict, a quick treatment of French armor in 1940, the second of two pieceson Q-ships and their tactics, a set of rules for Dark Age skirmishes and a Don Featherstone description of Rorke's Drift. MINIATURE WARGAMES is another of the British glossies, this one edited by lain Dickie. the May issue has articles on the battles of Bannockburn, Koniggratz, and Poison Springs (Arkansas, 1864), suggestions for wargaming the Highland uprising of 1745, the Flanders campaign of 1794, and Monmouth's campaign of 1685, the battle of Isandlwana and the Home Guard in Operation Sea Lion. There is a constuction article on an armored ACW stern wheeler, a Roman order of battle for Britain, AD 402-7, and a collection of half a dozen scenarios from novels for Heart of Oak.
