Last issue, I promised a set of campaign rules for this little gamed period. Think of these as suggestions that can be modified to suit your own gaming style. Illustration from a handout of the U.S. Army Infantry School, Combined Arms and Tactics Dept, Fort Benning GA You can use the historic unit creations and the British reinforcements for the war, or you can incorporate a degree of a-historical uncertainty which I believe actually makes the game more historical. Neither side had a clear idea of what units were being raised or transported to the theater by the other. At this time no boardgame exists that could be used for a campaign vehicle for the entire war of 1812. A map of North America could be used for the start of a campaign (see map 1). I recommend a monthly system of movement and record keeping with seasonal turns included every three months. A campaign sequence is outlined below.
