Quality Castings has several new 15 mm WWII miniatures out. These include a German Ford 1.5 ton truck with canvas top, 5 sets of Afrika Korps infantry, and an update of the 7.5 mm PAK 40 AT gun. There are 5 sets of Eighth Army infantry for N. Africa, a Russian GAZ truck, a Japanese Isuzu (Ford) 1.5 ton truck with canvas top, new versions of the US M3 halftrack in personnel carrier and 75 mm gun variants, a US M21 halftrack with 81 mm mortar, and a M577 command vehicle on M113 hull for more modern encounters. PUBLICATIONSThe Caisson is the work of the British Association of Empire Players, a group dedicated to Napoleonic wargaming, especially with Empire in its various manifestations. The most recent issue contains a lengthy battle report of a test of Empire IV, followed by an article arguing that Empire and many other rules vastly over rate any British advantage in fire effect, with suggestions for modifications, some alternatives for handling cavalry reforming from skirmishing, and a letters section. Lone Warrior, Journal of the Solo Wargamers Association, is required reading for anyone who has to make do with only the occasional live opponent, and of interest to most of those who have plenty of opposition. Usually most strongly characterized by its large letters section, this magazine has a slightly different focus in the most recent issue, filled primarily with articles. These include a solo system for Vietnam skirmish games, a scenario for British against Dervishes, another based on the battle of Caving Banks (Cherokees, Creeks, Choctaws, and Seminoles on both Confederate and Union sides, along with some Texas cavalry in 1861), a fictional WWII scenario (Russians vs. Poles), a system for adding reaction time to campaign games, several battle reports, figure reviews, and regular columns on fantasy gaming, reviews, and regular columns on fantasy gaming, boarclgames, play-by-mail, and computer games. 42 pp, £ 13.50 airmail, £ 9.50 surface (sterling only, cheques on UK banks) / 6 issues. There are also some reviews and an editorial. 24 pp, $18/4 issues. The Knight Design Dispatch is a small quarterly on small scale (1mm - 6mm) wargaming for a $5/Year sub price.
