American Briefing

Situation:

Troop C, 112th Cavalry was cut off at Afua, yesterday, 21 July. Their exact location is unknown. Sounds of fighting can be heard to the south, but what they represent is unknown. Neither ground patrols nor air recon have been able to find Troop C. Despite the lack of information, it is felt that immediate action now is imperative, rather than waiting for the situation to be clarified.

OBJECTIVE:

Your orders are to proceed south and reestablish contact with Troop C.

Troops:

1st Battalion 112th Cavalry

Wire Party: 12 men armed with: 2 SMGs, 1 BAR, 2 carbines, 7 M 1 rifles, and a radio.

I Company Reinforcements:
HQ of 4 men with 2 SMGs, 2 M 1 rifles, and 1 radio.
First Squad: 8 men armed with: 2 SMGs, 1 BAR, and 5 M 1 rifles.
Second Squad: same as first squad.

HQ Reinforcements:
From Headquarters Troop: Captain and 3 men armed with: 1 carbine and 3 M 1 rifles.
From Mortar Platoon: Lt. and 3 men with: 1 carbine, 3 M 1 rifles, and a radio.
First Squad: 8 men with: 2 SMGs, 1 BAR, and 5 M 1 rifles.
Second Squad: same as first squad.

All infantry have 2 fragmentation and 1 white phosphorus grenades.

MORALE:

Regular 3, Current 3, Regular 3, Battle Weary 2, Duty Bound 2, for a total of 13.

ARTILLERY SUPPORT:

1 battery of 4 81mm mortars. Unlimited ammunition.

Set-up:

Wire Party enters from north edge of map along either trail on turn 1. I Company enters only after the Wire Party encounters a Japanese unit, enters on same trail as the Wire Party. HQ units enter if first two American units are stalled. HQ unit cannot enter on same trail as Wire Party and I Company.
